L for leisure and communities

Fill your free time with what gives you energy and joy.

The list of clubs, leisure activities and communities in and around Fredericia is long and varied. There’s virtually no interest you can’t pursue when you live here.

Do you want to be a volunteer or a football player? Should your free time be spent on martial arts, piano lessons or creative projects in open workshops?

Club life is thriving in the local communities, and here you can quickly become part of something bigger.

On this page, you can explore the options.

Sports

Fredericia is also full of small and large clubs where you can enjoy sport and exercise together with others. Out in the local communities, the sports halls are buzzing with activities and sports for both children and adults.

Did you know, by the way, that Fredericia Sports Centre and Swimming Pool is one of the country’s largest sports facilities under one roof? Here you can become part of a vibrant community with both individual training and team sports.

Music and creativity

At The Creative School, children and young people up to 25 can take classes in music, dance, drama, musical theatre and visual arts.

If your children have a musician inside them, the city also has its very own marching band, 6. Juli Garden, which often plays in the streets during holidays and festive occasions.

In Fredericia we also have Depotgården – your creative house. Here you’ll find open workshops for residents aged 18+. There are creative workshops, community dining, and the opportunity to work on your own projects in, for example, woodturning, ceramics, willow weaving, beer brewing and sewing.

At Kulturkasernen, you and your band can rent rehearsal rooms, the whole family can join community dining, and Bülows Makerspace, which is part of Kulturkasernen, also offers a wealth of great activities. How about joining the Inventors’ Club every Monday after school? If you’re over 15, you can also join TEKHub and geek out with robots, 3D printing and virtual reality. In the workshop, you can get help every week turning creative ideas into physical products.

Remember that many of our clubs offer free trial periods for new members!

Together for volunteering

Communities play a big role in Fredericia. When we come together and many lend a hand, we can achieve so much more.

All across the municipality, there are many communities and clubs whose success is driven by dedicated volunteers.

If you dream of being part of something, meeting new people and building a network in the local community, you have plenty of opportunities to get involved right here.

Did you know that we’re so proud of the city’s many volunteers that every year we celebrate them all with a big party?

Out into nature

Fredericia’s many natural areas offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor exercise. If you prefer walking, running and cycling on your own, you can do so in beautiful surroundings, no matter where in the municipality you live. In Hannerup Forest you’ll also find a mountain bike trail, and in Madsbyparken there’s a beginner-friendly fitness trail.

Enjoy nature together with others. In Fredericia, we have kilometres of coastline, so if it’s winter swimming, water sports, sailing or kayaking that draws you in, you’ve come to exactly the right place.

The scout groups are ready with twist bread and togetherness in both sunshine and sleet.
