Village charm and unique nature

Like pearls on a string, four cosy villages lie one after the other in scenic surroundings along the coast by Vejle Fjord and Rands Fjord. The area is also known as Vejlby Parish, and this is where you should live if you dream of nature, peace and quiet, village charm, and a welcoming small local community with childcare, a school, and community life.

In Bøgeskov, located roughly in the middle of the area, you’ll find Børnehuset Bøgeskov, with both a nursery and kindergarten. The childcare centre places a strong emphasis on using nature, and the children spend a lot of time at the beach, in the forest, and at the local scout hut. The childcare centre’s nearest neighbour is Kirstinebjergskolen, Bøgeskovvej department, with year groups from 0–6. The childcare centre and the school are connected and share cosy activities across age groups. The school is a Blue School and places a strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning. For example, the children often have lessons in the forest and on the beach, which is right behind the school. From the area, a city bus runs to and from Fredericia, and for children who need to go to school or activities in Fredericia, there is both a school bus and a safe cycle path into town, which is only about 7 km away.

At the local sports hall, Bøgeskovhallen, Trelde GI is based – here you can, among other things, do handball, forest fitness, yoga, parent-and-child gymnastics, badminton, tennis, and more. There is also the option to do martial arts or join the local FDF group in the area.

Experiences and events

In Egeskov, you can shop at the local Brugsen or host a party and take part in events at the community hall. You’ll also find the local church and the museum farm Kringsminde, which hosts cosy family events throughout the year.

Also mark your calendar for the annual town festival Sommersjov, where the whole parish gets together and competes in tug-of-war and beach volleyball, and there are bouncy castles, a straw maze, a cake stall, a town relay, a hot dog stand, a party tent with communal dining and live music, and much more.

Every year in May, there is Skovens Dag (Forest Day) with activities for the whole family at Trelde Næs. But the headland is always worth a visit. The nature centre is open every day – here you can borrow equipment for outdoor play.

Surrounded by nature

Nature is something truly special in this area. Trelde Næs is included in Denmark’s Nature Canon, one of Denmark’s 15 best natural gems. Trelde Næs is part of a large forest area, with several trails and a waymarked route.

Both Bøgeskov Beach and Trelde Næs Beach have the Blue Flag, and there are several great beaches and swimming spots along the coast.

At Rands Fjord, you can enjoy unique birdlife and spend the night at the shelter site close to the water. At Trelde Næs you’ll also find two shelter sites, so there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor life in the local area.

If you’d like to live right in the middle of nature, it hardly gets any better than this.
